The high energy density results in superior power/volume and power/weight ratios. No special handling precautions or shipping containers – surface or air – are required due to leak-proof construction. The high watt-hour per dollar value is made possible by the materials used in a sealed lead-acid battery: they are readily available and low in cost.
The tests consist of a daily discharge to 10,8V with I = 0,2C20, followed by approximately two hours rest in discharged condition, and then a recharge with I = 0,2C20. (Several manufacturers of lead carbon batteries claim a cycle life of up to two thousand 90% DoD cycles. We have not yet been able to confirm these claims)
Lower charge voltage and therefore higher efficiency and less corrosion of the positive plate. And the overall result is improved cycle life. Tests have shown that our lead carbon batteries do withstand at least five hundred 100% DoD cycles.
The heavy duty lead calcium alloy grids provide an extra margin of performance and life in both cyclic and float applications and give unparalleled recovery from deep discharge. Depending upon the average depth of discharge, over a thousand discharge/charge cycles can be expected.
Continuous over- or undercharging is the single worst enemy of a lead-acid battery. Caution should be exercised to insure that the charger is disconnected after cycle charging, or that the float voltage is set correctly.
